Second week of recovery

Both Monday and Tuesday were visits to the dentist - I managed to put off going during the 15 weeks of training prior to Sydney Marathon but have more time now so several more trips to the dentist before I'm out of the woods. Ouch ! (that's the hip pocket nerve not my teeth).

Managed to get out on Monday for 8k in 38 mins - it felt as slow as it was - legs were heavy and I felt lumpy and uncordinated. Haven't been eating much because of the teeth issue so maybe lacked fuel.

Tuesday did the same run but in 35.48 - much better - didn't get out till late until the local anaesthetic wore off and saw the Wildthings coming home from the pub and had a brief chat.

Wednesday and feeling a lot fresher today - did a 2k w/u in 9 mins then 8.25k in 33.12 covering 10.25k total in 42.12 (4.10 pace) over a nice hilly route. Good confidence booster.

Thursday and same run as yesterday and a bit faster - 10.25 k in 41.20 (4.02 pace)

Friday - rest day.

Saturday - met up with Nick early (6am) and ran from Newtown down and around the Bay and return for 18k in 87 mins (4.50 pace) - first time for awhile that I've run that early in the morning and while I wouldn't say I struggled, I was glad to have finished the run. Saw quite a few CR's getting ready for the 5k challenge - the thought of running a hard 5k doesn't interest me at all at the moment.
Sunday and I headed out at about 3.30pm for the same run as yesterday. Much faster pace covering 18k in 76 mins (4.13 pace) and felt a lot better than yesterday.

Total 72k.

Couple of good runs and starting to get back into it. Another week or 2 of aerobic running and I'll start some speedwork again, just want to get the mileage back up to 100k a week.

Dentists are almost as bad as Chiros. They keep wanting you to come back.

Feel sorry for you, 26miles...nothing I fear more than a visit to the dentist! Hope you get it over with quickly.
