Tour de Tassie

I am back from Tasmania - cool mountain air, log fire on most days, plenty of hilly fire trails to run on. Missed the bush fires in Hobart as we headed to Queenstown that day and returned a few days later back to more cool weather.
Managed to get out for a run every day but sometimes only 30 mins or so, usually before heading out to explore somewhere.

Stayed at a friends house at Cygnet, about 1hrs drive south of Hobart on the Huon River/Far South Coast of Tasmania. They have a 5 hectare property that backs onto a nature reserve on one side and Cygnet bay on the other - quiet, great views and very relaxing.

Monday and ran for an hour (30 mins out and back) along Abels Bay rd (mostly dirt) good solid pace. Later we went to Hastings Caves and the thermal pools there. Good fun sitting in 32 degree water and the air temp is only 13 and surrounded by snow capped mountains.

Tuesday and 40 mins out and back thru the bush about 21 mins uphill and 19 down again.
Drove to Queenstown (about 5 hrs all up) stopping along the way for some photo oportunities at Lake St. Clair amongsT other places. One of the worlds best drives if your into scenery.

Wednesday ran for 30 mins only around Queenstown, was quite warm in the morning.
Visited Zeehan and Strahan and then the Gordon river and later some spectacular lakes that glaciers carved out long ago.

Thursday am 30 mins at Queenstown and 1hr pm at Ulverstone on the Northern Coast along the waterfront. First time I saw any other runners this holiday.
Spent most of the afternoon in the heated pool and Spa.

Friday 20 mins run in the afternoon thru the bush at Cygnet. Drove back from Ulverstone via Midlands Hwy to Hobart. Back to cool weather again.

Saturday cold again with snow on the ranges, ran for 1hr (30 out and back) thru the bush.
Hung around Cygnet going to the 2 local wineries and cafe.

Sunday flew home in the morning and 18k run around the Bay in the afternoon in 76 mins (4.12 pace).

Total running for the week about 84k.
