Inspirational Saturday

I'm watching highlights of the New York Marathon as I type this today. Channel 9 has kindly decided to repeat the 2004 marathon this afternoon - and what an inspiration. There is something uplifting about watching the human form move so fast & gracefully. To put it into perspective for me - I could hang on to 5.15 per mile pace for about 2 miles only - fancy keeping that up for 26.2 miles !

Well today I did an easy 5k (including 6 strides at race pace) in 23.00 minutes. Just ticking the legs over - took awhile for my right foot to loosen up - felt better after the strides. I don't think easy jogging is right for me. My form is completely different when running at a faster pace - I don't believe running really slowly just to get extra miles in contributes to my running at all .

Plenty of txt messages today from my running mates, wishing me well tomorrow (thanks Andy, Daz & Tim). Must remember the advice - take it easy for the first 3-4k @ 4.05/10 pace - settle into a rhythm. Start amongst the mid pack but not too far back and work my way through - good psychological boost passing people, steady on the uphills and push the downhills and flats.

Good luck to everyone running tomorrow - cya out there !

Hi 26, nice to read your blog. Tim gave me Steve Prefontaine's video 'Without Limits' at PT today. It's my homework to watch it tonight before the Half. Have a good one tomorrow and hope to see u somwhere on the course.
