Sunday 'round the Bay.

Met up with some of the Freespirit run club people this morning. A beautiful crisp cool, sunny morning saw about 10 of us head off.

Headed up thru the dog park over canal and back around the Bay up thru the hospital loop and back to start at Le Montage (1 loop = 10.75k) . Continued around dog park then out to Rodd Point and return for a total of 18k in 1.26 (4.50 pace).

No stops at all today (including water).
I am trying a new method for running long - no gels, no lollies, no sports drink and very little water while running.

Why ?

Because I think I have become dependent on stopping occasionally even when running at a modest pace. In the last couple of months I have weened myself off sports drink, lollies, gels etc and I feel I am running much better because of it as well as losing a bit of weight.

Bella had a 2-2 all draw today, scrappy affair on a very bumpy ground. Tough game next week against the leaders.

Yeah, I'm doing the same thing after Action's comments after Six Foot. He spoke to his dietician after bonking at 3 1/3 hours, and the dietician traced it back to his taking gu's in the STaRs, and never experiencing the transition to fat burning in training. I'll take a gu in case I get light-headed, but am trying to do these without brekkie or any sustenance other than water during the run. The fat-burning isn't going to do much harm to your body fat content, either - well, for us lard-arsed oldies anyway!
