Striders 10k - North Head - 38.11 - p.b

Rest day as usual on friday and an o.k. Nights sleep but not great.

Silverfox was off to Canberra with the family and Andrew T offered me a lift which I gratefully accepted. Always nice to bend a fellow veteran runners ear about what training they get up to - thanks mate.

Got thru an easy warm-up and felt pretty good. No idea how I would go today - thought a p.b might be on offer but this was my first race in 9 weeks so I was a little rusty. Stayed with Greg Coy to the 8k mark until the stitch that had been lingering since the 3k mark got a little more painful - just couldn't finish off strongly.

Boy, 10k races are hard. How quickly you forget when you don't race regularly - at 6k I just wanted to stop, at 8k I wanted to die and 10k I was just glad I had finished.

Happy with the 4 sec P.B. though !

How good are Striders Vets though ? Action, Ross, Coaster, highwayman & Andrew t all mid - late forties and still running 35-36 min for 10k, I could only muster 38.11 for 8th Vet.
Managed to get home just in time to see Ally's netball game - another thrilling win, so they remain undefeated.

Got out for a second easier 6k jog in the arvo in just under 27 mins.

Total 18k.

Steve, a pb trumps a dead-at-8k feeling :-). Sorry I didn't get to talk afterwards.

Good one Steve. Not far off breaking that sub 38.

Any PB's a good one. I hope the training goes well between now and SMH.
