week 1 of 15 - on the road to marathon glory
Slept in after being up late watching the World Cup - finally got out the door about 11 am. It was cold, wet and extremely windy. Ran from home down to the Bay with a ferocious southerly behind me but decided not to run around the Bay but headed for some protection up thru Rozelle and down Darling St, Balmain and return. Headed back home thru Glebe and Camperdown for 17k in 72 mins at 4.14 pace. A solid steady run.
Decided to have a crack at the Sydney mara in September - so plenty of work to do.
Weekly summary
1 x speedwork (short reps)
1 x tempo effort including hilly 7k @ 4 min pace
1 x solid long run - 2hrs
3 x steady runs quicker than 4.30 pace
Total for the week 100k.

Hmmm, mileage ramping up, long run getting longer. This would rank as the least surprising thing that happened today, right up there with the sun coming up in the east. Should be interesting to follow, though!
c'mon, I saw Action round the Bay on Saturday - that would be the least surprising thing since sun rise !
Good luck with the training Steve. Hope it goes well for you.
