New look Blog
Beta testing is supposedly over so I swapped to the new look Blogger on Google. Not sure what, if any difference it makes to me, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.
Hey Marty,
Most of my running is just aerobic at the moment but 100k is not too hard to do if I run every day - getting in a decent midweek long run is the key - running home from work is one of my favourite runs, usually 16 to 24k at a steady pace. Throw in a long run and 2 fartlek or tempo runs and the rest is just jogging (albeit trying to stay under 4.30 pace !)
Monday 6pm - 10.25k loop in 42.06 (4.06 pace).
Tuesday 7pm - 20 min w/u from home around Sydney Uni, session on grass oval at St.Pauls. 8 x 75 secs (400m approx) with 45 secs recovery, felt really strong and speedy for a change. 20 min c/d jog. Total 12k.
Wednesday 5pm - 21k in 91 mins (4.20 pace) run home from work, cool overcast, perfect running conditions.
Thursday 5.30pm - 20 min w/u to Sydney uni. 5 x 3 mins with 1 min recovery. Felt flat and a bit stiff but toughed it out. 20 min c/d. Total 13k.
Friday - rest
Saturday 6am - 2 laps of the Bay with Nick. 14k and no shortcuts in 56.54. First 7k in 29.04 and second 7k in 27.50. Perfect conditions with no wind - 2 weeks ago we struggled to do 61 mins in gale force conditions.
Sunday 6.20am - Striders Nth Head STaR. An early start with Nick picking me up at 5.45 to get to Clontarf by 6.20am. A largish 6 & 6.10 group headed out leaving just 6 or 7 for the combined 6.20/6.30 group. I think the early humidity and then later sun made for a bit of a struggle today. Still, got 24k done in 1h50.
