injury update
Decided to take a few weeks off running until knee feels better and other various niggles disappear. ITB flaired up in my left knee and is basically a refered pain from tight hamstring/glutes and calves - so have been stretching religiously and concentrating on core/lower back exercises plus a lot of swimming !
Week 1
Monday - 40 min walk.
Tuesday - swim 1k, 40 min walk.
Wednesday - 1k swim, 40 min walk.
Thursday - 1.25k swim, 40 min walk.
Friday - 1.25k swim.
Saturday - swim with Nick at Boy Charlton - 19.30 for 1000m.
Sunday - 25k cycle.
Week 2
Monday - 1.25k swim, 4k easy jog (20 mins)
Tuesday - 1.25k swim, 40 min walk. Surprised at how fast I've got swim fitness back. Wednesday - 1.25k swim, 40 min walk
Thursday - 1.25k swim, 40 min walk/run on local oval.
Friday - 25 min walk.
Saturday - 1.5k swim with Nick at Boy Charlton. Splits, 500m 9.20, 1k 18.35, 1.5k 27.55. Already knocked off 1 min from last week. Aim is to get down to 17 mins for 1k.
Sunday - am 32 min easy run - 7k. Leg feels a lot better, pm 1hr walk - 6k.
3 easy runs last week with the leg feeling better each run but still some residual stiffness.
Swimming is coming along really well - will probably have a bash at some ocean swims in the next few weeks and if the running picks up then maybe some biathlons.
Have to say that I've been enjoying not running much. Swimming is a nice change although having to rely on swimming for fitness during winter would be a challenge.
