Marking time

I will start training for the Sydney marathon in earnest next week but this week is just marking time - Saturday's 10k race at Lane Cove will be the last for a month or so. I need to get in some solid training and this will be the 4th race in 5 weeks. I am planning on having a crack at Sutherland to Surf and City2Surf but the next few Striders 10k races will be races with no emotional expenditure - i.e. just solid training runs, without a taper.

Monday - ran home from work via the Harbour & Anzac Bridges for 13.2k in 58.54 (4.27 pace). Home before 6pm and a nice enjoyable run passing a few mountain bikers over Anzac Bridge.

Tuesday - 3k w/u down to Glebe Waterfront. Did 5 x 810m average 2.48 with a 70 sec recovery. 3k jog home for 10k total.

Wednesday - ran home from work for 12k in 51 mins (4.15 pace) via Harbour Bridge and Darling Harbour - another solid steady run.

Thursday - got my Preferred runner entry for the C2S in the mail today - woohoo !
3k w/u down to Glebe Park. Ran 5 laps of my 800m course doing 8 x 1 min on/off. Went thru 4k in 14.55 - good effort, running strongly on the intervals and fairly easy recoveries. 3k c/d home. Total 10k.

Friday - rest

Saturday - very cool this morning at Lane Cove with a mist hovering above the river. Got there early with Nick and did a 3k w/u and toilet pit stop before the hoards arrived. Ran pretty well this morning for a 37.27 which was just a few secs outside my p.b. from last month at Nth Head and a 41 sec course p.b.
5k splits were 18.43 out and 18.44 back - can't get more even than that. Felt very solid but with no real speed - just ambling along at 3.45 pace. Aiming for 36.xx next month at Homebush. Got home and did a 3k c/d jog around Newtown for 16k total today.

Sunday - had to get out early as we had a busy day ahead of us. Ran down to the Bay and did a lap with Nick before running home again for 19k in a leisurely 90 mins and home before 8am.
Got out in the evening for another easy 6k in 26 mins.

Total 86k for the week.

Nice run this morning Steve. Must be a course PB if the real PB is at North Head.
