week 2/16 - week ending 17/6/07

Monday - public holiday today. Ran with Tim and Mal around the Bay with a few hills in Callan Park thrown in for good measure. Covered 18k in 85 mins.

Tuesday - Ally had a concert at the Opera House this evening but not until 7pm, so I snuck a fairly solid run in after work around St.Leonards and Artarmon, covering about 10k in 40 mins.

Wednesday - Ran home from work via Gladesville Bridge - covering 17k in 72.15 (4.15 pace). Kept up a good pace over a hilly route - felt strong.

Thursday - It had been raining solidly all day and I headed out for a run during a brief respite. 4.5k w/u down to the CR5 marker at Hawthorne canal feeling very shabby. Canal was full to overflowing in a few spots as the heavy rain had coincided with a high tide and the footpath between the 4 & 5k markers was underwater in several locations. I was supposed to do 6k at 10k pace (i.e 6k in 22.30) but could only manage 23.35. Felt heavy and lethargic. Should have worn flats instead of trainers as the wet shoes felt like bricks. Absolutely pissed down on the jog home. 15k total. Only saw one other runner (Guzzo) out tonight in shithouse conditions.

Friday - Got out at Lunchtime for 7k in 29 mins in light misty rain. Wore the flats and consequently felt really good.

Saturday - Organised to run with Nick early but it had been raining heavily all night and still coming down solidly so postponed the run until later in the day. Finally got out at about 2 pm for 18k loop around the Bay in 76.30 (4.15 pace). Managed to stay dry up until the last 2-3k when the heavens opened and I got drenched. Another solid run without pushing it. I've run the same loop countless times at or near this pace but usually I have to force the pace a bit - today was a cruise - must be getting fitter !

Sunday - Ran with Nick at the Striders STaR (Iron Cove Bolter) which is about as easy a STaR as they make them with only a few hills namely Gladesville Bridge which we ran over twice. Covered about 28.3k in 2h 12. (4.40 pace) the first 20k were leisurely but Cam and Action picked up the pace for a strong finish.

Total 113k for the week.
