Wednesday - the recovery continues

Had a day off work today, so after taking Ally to school I headed home and changed into some running gear and headed to Sydney Park @ St. Peters where Bella has her District x-country today.
Ran for 7k @ 4.36 pace up & down the grassy hills. This park is a little oasis in the inner city and hardly anyone uses it - a real shame. It has plenty to offer runners. A flat grass oval for speedwork, a 500m bitumen track around the perimeter of the oval which is great for longer intervals and then several km's of trails either on grass or bitumen and finally some serious grass covered hills.

Today was South Sydney PSSA district x-country at the above venue. The course was a tough hilly course on bitumen and grass and the kids had to climb the two largest hills in the park over each 1k loop. 2k for juniors u8/9 & 10 and 3k for u11/12 & opens.

Bella led from start to finish in the u/11 girls and increased her lead each loop - ended up winning by more than a minute - got a nice trophy for senior girl champion (fastest female time on the day). Bella was very happy and got a great cheer from her school mates at the presentation. She is off to the regionals in three weeks where the competition will be very tough.

Ran again p.m for 5k at 4.15 pace felt quite good.

Might do some speedwork tomorrow.

Good to hear Bell enjoying some success, and I'm sure Dad's not getting much of a rush from it :-)!

I ran at Sydney Park with the East Met CC series there back on May 14 - a 5k course that ran two laps which picked up all three of those wretched hills. Good place to run, just a bit hard to get to from Gladesville!
