Striders 10k - Homebush - race 6 - 38.13

Silverfox picked me up at 5.50 am from Newtown to make our way over to Homebush for this months 38 mins of pain. Got there with plenty of time to spare after getting slightly disorientated (Parking in the old carpark and jogging over is probably a good idea).

Nick, Steve H and I did a small warm-up while I informed them of one of my finer Engineering moments sitting prominently on either side of the Holker Busway bridge - The misting masts - a leftover of the 2000 Sydney olympics and some 'world reknowned artists' legacy to Sydney, they were supposed to emit a fine spray of oil infused water which would mix with light and create an ethereal portal to the Sydney Olympics, unfortunately all the testing was done in midwinter when it was prime time for creating a fog but the Olympics were in a very warm late Spring and they just didn't work. So if your ever wondering what those five white masts are ...........?
I designed the substructure and masts - still standing almost 7 years later and mighty fine they are too !

Ran quite well today - only a couple of secs outside my p.b.
As I have said before, I don't like this course much, 2 laps around a carpark, 2 sharp turns up a steep incline and 2 slogs around a sandpit make it more difficult than it looks, although it is relatively flat - saying that though, it is better than the old Homebush course.

Leg pulled up a little stiff but as I type this, it is feels o.k. Will just have to watch it over the next couple of days.

Silverfox is back in the hunt again though with a satisfying 39.10 or so - nice work mate !
